EEEEEEEeeeeeeee Kittykittykitty

So our outdoor mamacat was waiting for us when we got home from work last night... with a surprise. She had two little fuzzballs with her, one orange, one gray. The kittens were much more skittish, but they're definitely big enough to eat solid food now, which is probably why she brought them along. Managed to pet both of them last night, but when we tried to catch them to bring them inside, they wouldn't come close enough.

So this morning I put out food inside the cat carrier, and managed to snag them both, along with Summer, the mamacat (who we suspect might be pregnant again, oy). All three of them are safely ensconced in our back bathroom, and seem to be adjusting just fine. The plan is to get them to the vet and have Summer fixed and the kittens at least given their shots. As much as I love kitties, this has to be a temporary solution. We are NOT up to being a six-cat-household. Hopefully we can find homes for them. Worst case, I'm ok with releasing Summer back outside once she's been spayed. She's not quite two years old, and obviously able to handle herself outside. The babies, though, they should have homes of their own.

...Do I have time to build myself an entirely new fursuit from the ground up before MFF? I have the materials, and I am sorely tempted to try at the risk of rushing and not having it turn out quite right. c.c; I must ponder this further.

Fur!

Found some lovely black tipped sooooft faux fur yesterday. I think I finally have the means to begin constructing my werewuff I've been meaning to build for, like, a year now. XDDDDD May not be finished for awhile. This one involves building up a muscled bodysuit first. c.c

Bah, phones x.x

x_x I have been without a cellphone for over three weeks now thanks to screw ups via either one carrier or the other. Been trying to port my number without much success. It seems, now, that the ball is no longer in Tracfone's court at least. I'm not waiting on Virgin Mobile, my new provider, to get off its ass and finish the transfer so my number works with my new phone. This is getting ridiculous. I filed a fricking complaint with the FCC over Tracfone's mishandling of the whole affair. Now I'm hoping Virgin doesn't screw me over too.

Dreamy Dreamness

Ok, I often don't recall my dreams from the night before, and when I do they're rarely clear in my mind. This one stuck out. c.c

I was working on a production of "Twilight: The Musical" (which, ohgod, already appears to exist on teh intarwebs x_x) with tichan and lanna_kitty. It wasn't anything like the books, but somehow I knew that's what we were doing. Except that parts of my costume kept disappearing, and then (because I was playing a vampire and ALL vampires must of course wear tight, low cut things in black that lace up) right before the last scene in rehersal, we discovered someone had cut the laces on my corset! The horror! So lanna_kitty heroically jumped in with my lines at the cue while tichan and I frantically searched for new corset lacing. And then I woke up, somewhat miffed that I had missed the big final number.

...I didn't say it made sense, just that I remembered it. c.c;

It was a good run

TrekWars: The Furry Conflict is no more. Thanks to a final website snafu, and general agreement from the handful of us who are left, we've decided not to try and resurrect the site. Ten years is a respectable run, especially for the internet, but it's time to say so long and thanks for all the memories.

I think it's better this way than trying to limp it back along the way we've been doing. It was so much easier (even if our writing sucked more) back in the day when all we had to worry about was high school and summer jobs. College, the real world, work, marriage, and in some cases babies, have made it so much more difficult to continue at the rate we used to. This isn't to say those of us who were already in touch intend to stop talking to each other, but we're not going to make any attempt to bring back the old site or forums or maintain the old storyline.

Hey, this thing ate a decade of my life. =P I'm allowed to be a little nostalgic.

Art at the Market

This coming Saturday I will again have a space at Art at the Market (they keep changing the dang name).

The venue runs from 9 AM to 2 PM. I'll be set up with originals, prints, card sets, and stickers at the very least. This is the same morning the Blacksburg Farmers' Market does Breakfast at the Market, so there'll be plenty of tasty food on hand for a nominal fee.

If you're in the area, come on down and check it out!

Um.... I'm just gonna quote Pez, since she did the counting. Concerning the werewolves who eat our brains, we have:

500 pages of research (211,928 words)

1,160 pages of version one (691,543 words)

272 pages of version two (157,886 words)

70 pages of miscellaneous canon (40,221 words)

92 pages of version three (53,526 words)

Now, here's the scary part:
We started this Christmas 2008.
ALL of Version Three has been within less than a month.

Our grand total is, assuming the math is right, 2094 pages and 1,155,104 words.

It... If I'm running around doing con-work, or on camera for an event, I am probably going to ignore you.

Can I touch you?
Please ask first, unless you're someone I already know. I tend to bite when startled.

Can I hang out with you?
If I'm not busy with con-work or, um, sleeping, sure I guess.

How can I find you?
My badge name is Zannah. I am, to my knowledge, the only girl on the video crew. This means I will be wearing a garish purple vest with reflective striping on it during portions of the con. =D It's hard to miss. Otherwise I'm of average height, slender build, brown hair, brown eyes, and glasses... like any number of other artist-fems out there. =D

Other cons I may go to:
Midwest FurFest

wheeee insomnia x_x

So, between Ed having to go into work early early this morning, and horror movie style nightmares about ants infesting my attic, I've been up since 5:30 or so, and didn't sleep worth shit. Just to make my panicked mind stop running in circles, I dragged the stepladder over, got out the big battery powered work light, and poked my head up in the attic to make sure the dream was just a dream. Didn't crawl around in the insulation, but no ants (and thank god, no wasps or bats, I looked for those too, honey =P) that I could see.

So now I am AWAKE in that horrible, grinding exhaustion sort of sense. Blurgh. Today's going to suck. Maybe I'll feel better after a shower. x_x

Writey

So, Pez and I have been writing for just short of six months now. It had gotten so profuse I actually stopped keeping track of just how much we've been writing. Pez did a word count yesterday. It does include our research and backstory files, though not the AIM conversations, txt messages, and things hand-written in notebooks at odd moments (I'm on my third of these now, personally). The current tally frightens me... but I also note I will never, ever think of NaNoWriMo as intimidating again. u_u

Since December, 2008, tichan and I have written 840,495+ words of research and book material. This is roughly 990 pgs at 12 pt TNR font... or about 3,362 pages in paperback novel format, averaging about 75,000 words apiece each month.

Aaaugh

At least the check valve on the sump pump waited until it was daylight, and we were both awake (sort of) before it exploded this morning. Cue hastily rigged hose system and a run to Lowes for new check valves. x_x Too bad it couldn't have waited until after breakfast. Both of us ended up snappish from low blood sugar. Also, the good of my shower this morning was completely negated by all the scrambling and adrenaline of "oh crap, it broke again". Bah. All fixed now, water mopped up, and the thing is working fine. Disaster averted, for the moment.

The writing continues

So, weekly update, I guess. c.c;;; Have been writing with tichan since mid December. Tallies are only for actual pieces of story. This excludes the bazillions of notes and reference files we've also been compiling. These are the numbers from the files I've slapped together on my comp, since most of the actual writing has been done via Googledocs. Googledocs is awesome, but it gets cranky if you go much past 50 pgs in a file, and there IS a filesize limit. We've smacked into it.

1915 - Chance Encounter: 11 pgs, 7865 words
Werefolk 1: 175 pgs, 108,525 words
Werefolk 2: 102 pgs, 79,222 words
Werefolk 3: 115 pgs 79,688 words
Werefolk 4: 46 pgs, 35,383 words
Werefolk 5: 61 pgs, 44,404 words

Total as of 3/08/09: 510 pgs @ 8.5x11 print size in Arial 10 pt font, 355,087 words

...This means we're averaging slightly better than 100K words a month. That scares me. x_x

Well then...

It's 7:00 AM EST... and I'm fairly certain I'm snowed in. u.u I can see tire marks on the road, but that means nothing. There's at least six inches of snow covering the driveway, and we don't own a snow shovel, plus the truck is rear wheel drive. I'm afraid I'm going to get stuck even just trying to turn around. I'm going to wait a little longer and see, because I hate to call into work over this... but if it's a choice over staying home or ending up in a ditch? I'd rather not be in a ditch. u_u;;;

Update: Definitely snowed in. My road has not been touched and the snow is at least 8" deep. I managed to make a path to the truck and clear it off... but I ain't going anywhere.

From Friday when we were on campus after work:

"Ah, WUVT. Sometimes you get really good, interesting music. Sometimes you get something that sounds like someone sodomizing a goat... with a goose."
