Art at the Market

This coming Saturday I will again have a space at Art at the Market (they keep changing the dang name).

The venue runs from 9 AM to 2 PM. I'll be set up with originals, prints, card sets, and stickers at the very least. This is the same morning the Blacksburg Farmers' Market does Breakfast at the Market, so there'll be plenty of tasty food on hand for a nominal fee.

If you're in the area, come on down and check it out!

We're getting closer to that time again. =D Just looking to plug the con again, especially since they've so graciously invited me back this year as their artist guest. Speaking of which...

I've had a blast at Rising Star the last couple years in particular. It's a small con, which makes it easy to socialize and find people. I've had folks hang out at my table for hours, just chatting. It's that nice relaxed sort of atmosphere you don't often find at larger conventions these days. SO! Um. I will be there, obviously. XDD I am running a panel! On something art related! c.c I still have to think of just what. If past years are anything to go by, I will probably be with Tony giving the fanfic writing panel again this year too. I don't know whether I'll have time to run around in costume, but I should have at least a few moments to get away and do that, so Carnation may make an appearance at the very least. So come and buy my art, hang out, meet cool people (not me, I don't count =) watch me doodle, and listen to me blather. XDD

Hey livejournal!

Normally I do this sort of thing on my FA journal, but it's time to spread the love and I'm not feeling artistically connected enough. =D

The FIRST person to respond to this WITH A CHARACTER DESCRIPTION gets a FREEBIE sketch, in either graphite or blue pencil, your choice.

Does not have to be furry. My usual commission rules (no trademarked characters, no underaged characters in adult situations) apply. Otherwise, it's pretty much fair game. I will be doing the piece tonight, scanning and posting as soon as I finish the sketch. If this goes well, I may try to make a habit of it. I can use the practice anyway.

Ok? Go! =D

Well, an attempt at a tutorial, anyway. c.c If you ever wanted to know how I do it, here's how *I* lay down my colors. The subject of this piece is a flame point siamese. It's the same piece I posted a few days ago.

Markers used: Prismacolor: wheat, cream, eggshell, buff, putty, deco orange, carmine red, henna, raspberry, mahogany red, ballet pink, salmon pink, blush pink, cold stone, mint cream, pale jade, green tea, celadon green, avocado, spearmint, clear blender.

Arts and stuff

Art Along the Alley was fun. Unfortunately sales were down for everybody, but still saw lots of people and had lots of nice comments (and hey, nobody even mentioned CSI! w00t!). Robert and Crimson were very helpful with setup and teardown, as well as watching the booth when I had to get away for a few moments. They even both provided musical accompaniment as the day wore on. =D We went and saw The Dark Knight after the event ended. c.c Glad we grabbed a matinée (however you spell the damn thing). Awesome movie. Lots of fun. Had dinner at Amelia's in Cburg afterward. Fantastic Italian food. We were not disappointed. Got the car unloaded today, watched the rented copy of Batman Begins (which I hadn't seen yet), and then Robert headed home. I have dinner made, and will probably eat when hunger pokes me. But I have new sketches done! Oh yeah, and if you haven't watched Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog yet, you're totally missing out. XDDD

In other news, arts! Two are nudes, neither shows anything )

My Library ^_^

I find the fact that there are six bookcases of at least 6 feet in height in my house and one 3' shelf, all of them overflowing with reading material (to the point that it's stacked on top of them, and is now spilling over to other nearby flat surfaces) an immensely comforting thing. Even if the world ended tomorrow, I'd still have my books. *happysigh* Granted, that's assuming I survive the radiation and post apocalyptic thunderdome lifestyle. =D

In other news, Art Along the Alley this saturday from 9 AM til 2 PM on Draper Rd. in downtown Blacksburg across from the Farmer's market! Come see the pretty arts. Buy my stuff! =D

u_u because my headpeople still won't leave me alone. Yeah it's Zanny. Different version, different universe, etc. Looong story. I want a sari now. I suck and did not attempt the crazy patterning/embellishment you find on most of them.

Piece is actually a follow up to this one, which I've not finished yet... )

Some doodles done in the car on the way home from AC. Also, I ended up with a pencil pouch that got left on the Tower of Tech. Someone found it during strike and handed it to me. I forgot I had it and Ops closed before I had a chance to turn it in. So if anybody from AV happens to know who it belongs to, send them my way.

One (nonsexual) nude and two doses of cuteness overload )

Please bear in mind that the last time I worked in acrylic was before I graduated from college... which would be over three years ago now. Even so, I don't think I did too badly. @_@; Crap, now he needs a background.
