Soft Touch

I rescued an itty bitty little bird today. It was hopping around, stuck in our atrium. I felt bad for the poor little thing, so I scooped it into a box, gave it a little bit of water and some donut crumbs from this morning, and left it covered in a quiet corner. It had perked up a bit when I checked on it later in the day. I couldn't do anything to fix the wing, but I tried to give it a marginally better chance at survival that it would have had, stuck flightless on main street. I took it home and let it go in the lilac bush, where at least there's cover and a better chance of finding things to eat. There's also a chance of it getting eaten by the neighbor's cat... but there's not much I could do about that. I couldn't keep it. Wild birds, especially little ones, probably wouldn't do well in a house that has two non-declawed cats who like to chase small fast moving objects..
